So true - we have yard cats - they like to stare in the window with that expression!
Well, you have to get there SOME way, don't you?

Ditto. They can be hard to ignore.
I once had a Siamese cat. He was very annoying. He sang all day and night. Loved to climb on top of every thing. He loved to knock everything over. He never bothered to chase after rats or squirrels.

The cat in your picture seems slighty miffed at having a mohawk pattern combed between its ears, by the bristles on that toothbrush.

He is an Abbysinian apparently taken up close with a wide lens - their faces aren’t really that wide. Until they get older, they all have that “Mohawk” that looks like it’s been brushed - it fades as they age.
My cat stares at me like that for no reason, all the time. I ask him "Do you want to go out"? "Do you want food?" "What do you want?"
(no response)
I think he's just messing with me.

Ever try the “slow blink”? If you slowly blink (once or twice) at a cat staring directly at you, if they blink back, it indicates affection (supposedly). It works with my cat almost every time.

My Persian is doing something weird lately. Every time I finish a meal she likes to get on my lap and then turn around and look at me while pressing on my stomach with one paw and then the other for about 3 or 4 minutes. It hurts!!! I think she is trying to tell me something, but I'm confused.

That supposedly indicates contentment or affection for the person - my cat does it all the time.
When we come home, usually the cat has been napping on the front porch, and will get up, walk over in front of us, then just flip down on her side. She wants to be petted. I would think if I would floon my side like that it would hurt.
