This was not a poisonous one, so we were allowed to get close. They said it could be aggressive if it was threatened but we would have to do something aggressive towards it first!
I have never liked snakes so would not go with cute as an adjective.
But having said that I do admire your great photography skills in taking the portraits. I agree with you about no protective glass etc. It is a non poisonous
(yes for others I do know poisonous from venomous and choose the word I am used to and like) snake so no need for caution against bites.
