What really bothers me are the people who post insults when they read a post they don't agree with. I can easily accept a reply that includes a logical or instructive reply if phrased politely. When the posts get nasty, I start skipping posts from those people. UHH is supposed to be polite and friendly.

UHH will be so much more enjoyable. Using the Ignore List I no longer will see the minutiae, the boring, the highly subjective. OK, it takes away 90% of the general chit-chat, but it will be worth it. Now you may attack me.
Hope you feel much better now, having gotten rid of that burden you have had to bear. It must have been so difficult to endure.
The best part about the UHH 'ignore list' is that is doesn't operate as being assumed ...
Two things it does are:
1, Filter the personal presentation of topics by those on the individual's ignore list. That is, your view of 'new topics' and (I believe) the daily digest will not include new topics created by people on your personal ignore list.
2, Those on your ignore list cannot contact you directly via Private Message (PM).
Many assumed benefits do not occur:
a, Those on your ignore list can freely add replies to your topics.
b, Nothing about their online UHH activity is shielded from your view except some filtering of their new topics in a limited view of the UHH content.
If I create a new topic this morning and I'm on your ignore list, your view of <Newest Topics> won't include my post. But, if you go into any of the specific subsections, you'll see that post listed. <Active Topics> and the similar <button> filters across the top of the UHH page will also filter my post from your view. That 'filtering' occurs only if you've signed into UHH with your user name & password. If you anonymously browse / lurk, that filtering does not occur.
Each person's ignore list is limited to 100 profiles. I periodically need to adjust my list as new Chg-Canon FanBoyz Club members request their members-only hats and others pass into memory.
I just delete the whole thing when someone is nasty. John
Back when I started going to the UHH, if you're on the ignore list you can post a post in a thread started by the person who ignores you. That was a bad thing. I am glad admin removed that.

Yes. Back then one can put someone on ignore list and that person can not post in the thread started by you. Back then Rongnongno did that to me all the time. I don't care if he doesn't see my post but he took away my ability to explain to others who see the thread.

Agreed. I might have misread you comment before. ADMIN realized the UHH community was walling itself off behind ignore lists, and that feature was modified / removed.
I did not know there was an ignore list or an Attic, I only look at General Photo, which is usually enjoyable.
I only comment if I think it might be useful or helpful .
Not a big fan of ignoring or banning, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
There is a lot of knowledge here, and that's what interests me.

3, Those who can earn a coveted spot on a certain individual's ignore list, may find that to be an honor to cherish and guard with gratitude.

His name is “WrongNoGo” for a reason.

Bebu, your comment above Paul's left out the word "NOT"
After Admin changed that "feature," I posted in someone's topic who had me on Ignore, just to show that I could. Was that petty of me?

Plenty of knowledge, plenty of opinions. But also, sadly, some very bad actors who destroyed topics created by others.
Admin's general advice: don't feed the trolls.
