I had a Nikon D50 back then, and now looking at these from 2010, there is really no need to have huge sensors since the little whiskers on these flowers are clear and beautiful

And that was from 2010 from a 6Mpx Nikon D50. I guess, at least for these kinds of photos, no need for a massive sensor. I even had a cheapish Promaster 100mm macro ($100) on it, and it did a great job
