If you can get the pictures off the camera card, you're more than halfway to being a photographer.

Aww, don't make the monkey feel bad. They have feeling too.

I know but that is how it is. Although the court didn't deny that the monkey was the photographer they denied his right to the image. I guess it's like Paul said, the monkey took the picture but he couldn't take picture out of the camera and he didn't own the camera.

If you have to shoot RAW so that you will have the most latitude in post processing, you are a computer graphics bubba, not a photographer.

Depends on definition of "photographer" doesn't it.........

One can be a photographer AND a computer graphics bubba.
One does not preclude the other.

It wasn't a matter of whether the monkey could take the picture out of the camera or owned the camera, it was a matter of whether animals (other than humans) can own a copyright.

Begin to use Nikon in part of your screen name. Then buy Sony cameras.

One "can" be. But when one "needs" to be the graphics bubba, one has not done one's job as the photographer.

Seems like it would be part of the "final creation process".
So someone doing extensive post work because they desire to do so is not a photographer?

Your opinion/perception I suppose......

I'm so glad I'm only a picture taker. I don't care a whit about rules

Improving the image that comes out of the camera has been an important part of photography since it was invented.
