I have a choice of not doing anything here on the UHH and I chose it. Nobody knows. However, if the situation is real life and peope showing me their pictures I would much rather make them happy than try to improve their skill. Right or wrong that is what I would do.

I was once asked, "Would you rather be right or be nice?" My answer was, "What are the circumstances?"

If being right determines whether someone lives or dies, I want to be right, and if that requires being an SOB momentarily, I'll be one, and ask for forgiveness later.

If being nice determines whether I "get to tomorrow" in an important relationship, I'll be nice, so long as an error doesn't cause a harm worse than indignity.

If there's time to nicely and politely guide others to the correct conclusion and away from their errant stupidity, I'll try to forge that path.

But I'll tell you this, I hate being wrong. It isn't in my DNA to promote falsehoods. It's not good for humanity.

Just the great miracle of in-phone editing !

Fantastic work. Sharp, well focused and I personally love it, even if you don't really care what others think. Acoarst, some improvement could be made if your removed the white fringe from around the fence.

But that's just my unsolicited opinion, which I think I'm allowed to give since we're not in the precious gallery, where people that take pictures for themselves only, could care less what others think, and have no interest in improving either because they're old, or already know everything. (Not too sure why people would bother posting their photo's on a public forum if they're not interested in others opinions?)

I'd like to blow a special raspberry to all those that don't wish to improve, regardless of endeavor.

BTW, you posted your phone pic in the wrong space, there is a forum specifically for phone pics...

I rather be nice even if I will never see that person again. Even here on the UHH. It's not worth to make someone upset by telling them their pictures suck. Besides, I think the pictures are bad but really how do I know. The beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. It's quite obvious that the pictures are good to the people who posted.

Some people have amassed a great deal of knowledge.

Expecting/requiring everyone to want to learn is silly also.

Personally, I think it's despicable that one serious enough about photography to post their work in a public forum doesn't wish to learn. I reckon plenty of people have no interest in improving, and I'm have no interest in requiring them to learn, but my opinion of them is less than stellar.

There is always room for improvement and learning. Rejecting that is, imo, lame.
Anyone on this forum that cares enough to make an effort to help another shouldn't be chastised for making the effort, unless performed in an unfriendly, non-constructive manner.

I'd guess the large majority posting pictures would welcome free tips on how to improve their masterpieces, including those posting in the gallery.

I fully understand that on this forum, unsolicited advice is a mortal sin, but I think that's a shame. Just my opinion. We're all free to have an opinion.

So what of they are only interested in learning "more" as a 2 on a scale of 1-10?
Do they HAVE to be at 10?
Below what number do they receive a less than stellar opinion?

I've been shooting for over 50 years, no longer at a 10 for desire to "learn", I have a much lower number now.
Not that I'm not interested, just not in the top 5 list anymore.

Would the "majority" be "we"?

Learn from each other?
I've often found it helpful or informative, at least, when an excellent photo is posted, I download, save it to my PC. Look at the exif data and LEARN something. Disappointment results when the data is not saved.
Please save exif.

I agree, why post a photo if you don't want comments?
Label it a snapshot and move on.

I did not read all the posts, so I apologize for repeating something already submitted. If I could help another photographer with constructive criticism, I would first use a PM to ask whether my suggestions are welcome, and if so, keep the dialogue private. The photographer could then share them if he thought they would help others.

Please refer that to one of the forum cops.
My sarcasm was aimed at them. My personal, non-sarcastic opinion is there are so many forums, one could post the same picture in most of them. UsrID's photo of which we speak could go in a bunch (16?) of them, shudder.
