We started our setup around 10A.M. the spent a good while figuring out how to track the sun!! once figured out we just sat around and tracking.About 12:45 we started shooting and tracking.
While I got some good images I am not real happy with them!!
But since this was my last chance (84 yrs old) for a total/ near total eclipse here are a few shots.
Camera:Nikon D810
Lens: Sigma 150-600 @600mm
Tripod:Gitzo GT5561, Wimberley WH200
Filter:Thousand Oaks Optical Solar White Light (580-630nm)
Settings: 1/20 sec, f6.3, iso 1000 ( should have been faster)
Live view (Oh oh it eats batteries) so I did not get the Pearl!! shot
Processed in PSCC to get the orange out!!
You can see the wispy clouds that caused the "flare"
We started our setup around 10A.M. the spent a goo... (show quote)

WOW this is nice you kids.
This is real photography, capturing a part of life.
The filter on Sharons camera looks like the home made ones I made and used.
Your setup is interesting. What is the large square attached ? a solar filter ?
Either way Frank, I was holding off posting anything but you inspired me.
I think it is time to shock the hoggers.
Be same ya'll.
bruce.

Beautiful eclipse series, Frank. Especially loved seeing Sharon’s setup and the image of the back of the D810 live view. Beautifully done.

Thank you Joe

Thank you Bruce
The square thing is just a shield with a small hole punched in it just above the lens, this allowed me to get in the area of the sun and made it easier to find it on the LCD
