Wonderful set, Mike. Love the light that you’ve been catching in the Refuge series.

Nice Mike. I get sharper shots on a tripod but miss more in-flight depending on distance & the birds flight behavior and sometimes (but not lately) use the tripod like a monopod while walking & carrying with camera & lens draped over thee ole shoulder.

Thanks, Tom. I do that with my monopod when I go to Pinckney Island because of the long hike I have to take to get to the rookery.

Thanks, Dennis. Golden hour with a good sun angle makes that shot.

As I entered the auto route circling the main marsh area of Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, I encountered several photo ops that made it clear that my days of hand-holding the beast (A1 and 600mm lens with 2X tc) and getting sharp shots were over. When I had the car or a large amount of time, I could get shots in focus. Otherwise, a monopod is in my future. Thankfully, I also had my A9 and a 100 - 400 mm lens with a 1.4 tc. That enabled quick reaction and closer shots to work.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.
