Prior to the advent of the Ferrari period, Alfa Romeo considered itself to be the de facto Italian National Racing Team. First released for a world wide showing at the Paris show, it was the most mechanically advanced racing car of its time. The 8 cylinder, twin-cam, supercharged engine was a marvel of engineering.

The car was raced in Europe until 1940 when it was sold to an American and brought over the th U,S. It sold again in 1991 to another American. In 2003, it underwent an exhaustive ( and very expensive ) restoration.

Still hard to believe parted with my MGA back in 1975. At 81, I can not remember why I did that.

Thanks for the visit.

I learned to drive on my oldest brother's 1952 MGD. At the same time, I had to learn some basic mechanic's skills pretty quickly. He was off flying for the Air Force and I treated that car like it was mine for about 9 months. I always thought the MGA was one of the prettiest, well proportioned cars made....still do.

Beautiful car. I drove a 61 Spyder once. After my MGA the body lean on the Alpha scared the life out of me.
