This is my attempt at painting a hedgehog which I thought would be a fitting subject for the forum. I've grown fond of it over the hours to paint it this morning so it may be ugly to others.

The shape was easy to block in as it is a potato with a protrusion for a nose. Just add a face and a big ear and I have a bald hedgehog.

That was the easy part for the difficult part was putting in the countless strokes to emulate its quills. There is layer upon layer with varying colors. It took about two hours and several cups of coffee to paint them all in.

This piece was digitally painted using a graphic painting program with a graphic display tablet and a stylus to paint with.

Offer this to Admin for use in advertising the site! (sell it, I mean, don't give it away )

In fact, you've already built a great variety of charming artwork that would easily sell. Go for it!

Linda, thanks for the kind reply. I'm just an old coffee drinker that has little to do and I have all day to do it. Macro photography is my passion and, in a few weeks, the pollinators should be coming around which will find me out and about with the camera in hand.

I'm considering doing a head study of a colorful parrot for my next piece, however, time will tell.

The next step is to make a chimera ... some interesting mixes can result. The ideas could come from the Greek creature from Greek mythology,

Your results and skills are at a wow stage.

It's too cute! lol
Let's see an ugly one (not serious).
Great work, Gary.

If you're bored, you can teach such artistic form at a local high school club or college class - now I'm serious.

Sippy, when you paint a hedgehog, don't they squirm around a lot

You certainly did an exemplary, eye catching, job here, so, for you: πŸΊπŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸΊ

Amazing work Sippy. I'm now sure that Spring is here, I saw my first lizard this morning.

Thanks, Curmudgeon. You will know when Spring arrives near you when you set a potato chip on the ground and it is gone the next day.
