A week or so ago I wrote about acquiring a Rollator-style walker to cope with some balance problems I have. It is an all-terrain model with pneumatic tires. At the time all I had was a product photo from the seller's website.

This post includes some photos of my Rollator in use. The other day I took it out for a full-blown test. I loaded it up with more gear than I would ever take at one time, and then headed out for a two mile wander around a small lake at the local state park. The path varies between gravel and dirt and some grass, and it while it is flat, it is not smooth. The Rollator passed with flying colors.

I purposely over packed the gear in my photo bag for my test run. I packed with a DSLR camera body and 4 lenses and a Sirui travel tripod; a full-sized Benro tripod; and a Sigma 150-500 telephoto lens along with a gimbal mount. In other words, a whole bunch of stuff. Below are some photos that show the Rollator both packed and in action.

I am thrilled with this whole set-up. It will give me more opportunities than I have had in a while. If anyone reading this has some mobility issues, this might be something to explore.

Great Idea, I lost a lung in NAM and both feet are numb, can't walk over 30 yards. I made a box
with foam rubber strapped to the front of a ATV to carry lens and camera. I live out in the sticks.

Thank you for your service and what you gave for us.

Here is what I've used for a few years. I'm luckey that all of our metro parks are flat but this runners buggy does go thru sand also.

Is that a child runner? You say it can go through sand? How easily as that is one of the terrains I need to be able to traverse.

I have had to severely pull back on shooting with my mirrorless and lens as my neck is quite bad so any weight on it kills me quickly. As a result, I have been shooting with my iPhone 14 Pro and carrying a light weight tripod or selfie stick. It has surprisingly worked better than I thought but I really want to use my cameras. As I said above I do go out on beaches quite often. So to the OP do you think yours would work on sand?

The promotional materials say that these things can go on "firm" sand. I have used mine on grass, gravel, and dirt paths — even dirt paths with tree roots. I have also been on wood walkways. I haven't yet tried sand personally.

Here on the Texas coast, I do not think I would have a problem using it on the area of the beach that is within the reach of the tide.

I hope this helps.

Seems like a great purchase that should give you more opportunity to get out and about with camera in hand. I hope it brings you much joy and I'm looking forward to seeing your posts.

I had 2 strokes in 2019 and when I graduated from a wheelchair to a rolling walker I made sure to get a good one with a seat and a sizable carry bag for my gear. I have a 3-wheeler and a 4-wheeler I use. I would like one with large pneumatic tires for off-terrain. Good luck.

I wonder if you could order a set of wheels from the manufacturer? They may charge a bunch though. On the other hand, a new one is around $200. Here is one that is priced at $180.
