Nice set you have there, we were there last week. A biologist I was shooting the bull with told me they were estimating 700,000 in the valley at that time. All I know no matter what the number was, it was amazing and the calling they do when leaving or arriving at the river is just plain awesome.

I was at Pismo Beach a couple of years ago, checking out the Monarch Butterflies; they supposed actually count them ( 250,000 ); the guide explained how they did it - seemed convoluted, and I lost interest halfway through
her explanation ( about as honest answer as you will receive from anyone, on any subject ! )
