Yes - as I lift the camera from the bag the strap goes over my head.

Usually wrist strap when engaged in active shooting but use a Nicama chest harness (cheap cotton carrier knock off) when hiking. I'll use the chest harness and hip clip when carrying two. The peak design capture clips also work well on hip or shoulder straps. Don't like shoulder straps.

I use my hands...using my feet became...problematic.

Sling strap and/or wrist strap. The camera is never free dangling from either.

I use a neck/shoulder strap when out and about, and a wrist strap when just hopping out of the car when traveling.

I always prefer a camera on a strap and on my shoulders. I feel it is safe and convenient too.
I have seen some carry the camera even DSLRs in their hand when on a shoot.
Which do you prefer?

Carry: On a strap around my neck.

Shoot: Today, on a tripod, both landscape and portrait, or seated hand held with strap around neck. In the past, standing hand held with strap around neck often in landscape or portrait.

When I started photography in the 1970's, I went and still continue to shoot more like a newspaper photographer operating out of a bag. The bag on my shoulder, the camera strap wrapped around my hand. When done shooting the whole thing goes back in my bag. In thinking about it, I rarely have it around my neck, even if I'm only carrying one camera, it usually ends up hanging off my shoulder, if security is an issue it will be bandolier style across my chest.

Peak Design Slide strap worn cross body. I like the slide because it’s easy to adjust the length for different situations and I like cross body because it takes strain off the neck and with camera on my hip it doesn’t bounce around like on a neck strap.

I know of two photogs who have dropped their cameras and ruined them!

Hand strap for short lens, neck strap for long lens attached to the lens foot.

I do the same with lenses up to 70-200. With big lenses I wrap the strap around my hand turn the camera bottom side up and carry it by the foot. And yes that does include long distances and lenses up to a 400 f2.8.

The wrong way, always. That way, the wrong way becomes the right way.

This way, the way I do things is always right. This is called my way. What is YOUR way?

What kind of question is that?
