USNR 1967 - 1973, Aviation Maintenance Control mostly at U.S. Naval and Marine air bases with one training cruise on the USS Kennedy.
US Army Oct '68-May '71 E5, Taegu, So. Korea.
1966-1968 Fire Distribution Specialist 2nd Battalion 71st Artillery Camp Red Cloud, Korea. Rank at discharge
Specialist 5 E5
I was drafted into the army a year and a half after graduating from college. Because I had a biology degree and had worked for the US Public Health Service as an Epidemiologist in sexually transmitted disease control, they assigned me to Preventive Medicine. I chose not to attend OCS to become an officer because that meant four years versus two if I stayed as enlisted. I was stationed at Fort Gordon, GA, in 1968 and then in Vietnam in 1969. My exiting rank was Specialist E-5.
U.S. Army, 1965-68, rank at discharge-Captain.

Our outfit went to White Sands in 1955 to fire our missile for our final test before going on site. My first taste of the desert, interesting.

USAF. Served as a missile maintenance tech while enlisted ('75-80), then commissioned and retired as R&D engineer in '95 (retired as an O-4).
US Army '69-'71. I was drafted and no way did I want to carry a rifle with a sticky thing on the end, so I enlisted to fly. Ended up flying scouts for B Troop 7/1 Cav. in VN.
The war was winding down enough by the end of my tour that the orders came down; I could get out if I wanted! So as soon as I was off the freedom bird at Travis AFB
I was runnin' hard! CW2.

USAF, 36251 Telephone (Central Office Equipment Specialist) 1 May 1958 -13 June 1962 Airman 1st Class (Or now called Senior Airman).
Army 66-69. Joined 6 days out of high school so I could make it to the next available class at Intelligence School in Baltimore. Glad I did, as there was a sudden urgent need for 10 guys to work in the Pentagon, and I got one of the slots. I was just 18.
Had hoped to see more of the world, but under the circumstances, being tucked into the A Ring, 5th Floor of the Pentagon handling communications was OK. DC at the time was a thrill, but working shifts at the 24/7 shop severely limited my social life. Probably just as well. Lived in a barracks on the (now gone) SOUTH post of Ft. Myer, VA. That area was torn down to make more room for Arlington graves.
Because I worked for the Chief of Staff [locked up Westmoreland's office & checked trash for accidental classified trash!] I got invited to the big Army Birthday bash. I was very "short" as in weeks to ETS, so hell yes, I went! Probably the only enlisted guy there!
