When they create an EV that will go more than 300 miles without needing to be recharged, replace the batteries at a price that would equal the price of a gas car's battery (or, even two), enable it to be charged in the same amount of time it takes to fill my gas tank, and lower the price to that of a gas powered car, I might consider one. Oh; and solve the problem of catching on fire, too.

It's made of stainless steel that can't be molded easily, so to keep cost down, no curves. And heaven help anyone hit by one as they won't bend or give, and along with their weight will destroy other vehicles and its passengers.

I saw a strange vehicle on the road yesterday, and I quickly realized that it was a Tesla Cybertruck. I don't know how "Cyber" applies, but it certainly is weird looking. You can buy one to haul your next load of building materials home from Lowes for $165+.

IF, and only IF, I was going to buy electric, I would only buy a Toyota Camry Hybrid (not a plug-in), at today’s good prices, under $33k, w/ 200~300,000 expected mileage. Just my opinion… At one time, owned Prius, last 13 years now a Camry w 52k mileage now on it, never saw a Dealership!
As to the Cybertruck, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder! Stainless steel, near bulletproof; 48v, steer by wire, like aircraft, easier trouble-shooting (less wire cabling); saw a pix of a Cybertruck rear ended by a vehicle. Cybertruck a few mild dents, vehicle who caused the accident was declared ‘Totaled’. PS the Cybertrucks in Jerry’s mention here are by owners looking for a BIG profit over investment at purchase 😀; see low mileage, hardly used at
all. Again, just my opinion, as an older electronics service guy.

Apparently they are rusting to the extent of discoloration. Need to be coated with a clear coat which is optional ($$).
Chlorine (bleach) and muratic acid (Hydrochloric acid) used on bricks will do quite a job on stainless steel. Had stainless steel wash down hood at work and while never rusted out, the metal did stain over time.
I'd be very concerned about carrying pressure treated lumber in the thing. Even the sawdust sticking to a wet vehicle might leave nasty spotting.

Ammonia and alkyl amine based cleaners will similarly do quite a job on aluminium. I had aluminium parts corroded by pine smelling materials designed to keep mice away.

There are several EVs that have a range equal/> than your 300 mile range. Tesla batteries have a 10 year warennty (trade it at 9 years if you're concerned). The battery in an EV is the equivalent of an engine in a I.C.E vehicle...comparing the batteries in the two vehicles is erroneous. Most EVs can charge from 20%-80% in 20-15 min. (enough time to urinate & perhaps grab a snack). BTW 90% of charging of EVs is done at home while you eat, watch TV, sleeper or make love. Absolutely no time involved at a gas station. Tesla Model 3 ~$35,990 https://www.tesla.com/model 3 ... 2024 Camry XLE V6 (w/out options) $37,390(https://www.toyota.com/configurator/build/step/summary/year/2024/series/camry/model/2554/exteriorcolor/01H1/interiorcolor/LA20/packages/option116/?bap_guid=b7ace084-467e-4cc2-bf60-095dbaccce16) . Finally statically:Fully electric vehicles, on the other hand, were deemed far safer than both hybirds and gas cars; they are far less likely to catch fire, with just 25.1 fires per 100,000 sales. That’s compared to 3,474 hybrid fires and 1,529 ICE fires per 100,000 sales respectively. (https://insideevs.com/news/561549/study-evs-smallest-fire-risk/)
So I've done your homework for you...You are welcome.
Just attempting to educate.
Please don't buy an EV-- they are obviously not for you.

Yea, for sure. Just look at the logistics with these electric vehicles. The cost is outrageous and they are limited to what they can do. But lies, BS and politics are behind most of this scam.
A sad situation for sure but hey, you are right, carrying ability has to be limited.
Keep it real bro.

Not trying to insult you, bu being an EV owner, it is quite obvious you no nothing about which you speak.

You mentioned that 90% of the EVs charge at home overnight. California has many apartment complexes with either carports or underground garages. Neither of which can be fitted with a charging station for each EV. So that leaves the EV owner with the only option left. And that’s charging stations in parking lots. Bring your tent.

At this point in time apartment dwellers and carport residents should perhaps refrain from purchasing an EV at this time. Their circumstances make it difficult, but not impossible. As thy say— your mileage may vary. Sorry.

Saw 3 or same once three times last 24 hours in Dallas
Main question is why it has that shape ? Do not think it is aerodynamic .
Ugly to my taste, thought that after DeLorean no one would use it.
In car magazines there are comments that dirt poop is worse on SS than on paint.

And the first customer vehicle reports are that the stainless steel body panels show surface rust.

So... this may not haul as much, but you'd have time for a couple of extra trips:

I personally don't think EV's are quite ready for prime time BUT this truck has lot's of darn good reasons to want one. I listed some of them in a previous post.

You talk about "just the facts" then make up the pricing. Where did you get the 165-175 thousand dollars for one??? It's my understanding the 3 motor model is around $100,000 and the one motor model should come in around $60K, which is competitive with most standard HD pick up truck pricing. I don't think you can buy one anyway, as Tesla has pre-orders for at least the first year of production. Perhaps someone that got in on one already will sell you his used one for $165-175 thousand?
