Let's not forget the infamous daughter of a former governor of Texas, Ima Hogg. No, the rumor that she had a sister named Ura is not true.

My Dad's name was Hercules Gennaro (middle name). I won't give the rest of his name but it was a great Italian name. Fortunately for Dad he filled the bill.

Was it Corleone?

As they say, "It's a small world". I was there from 1949 to 1956. I've been in the U.S.A. since 1965. It's been 2 years since I went back to Leeds to visit family.

Every once in a while I meet someone with a memorable name. A name that sounds like it should be in a novel.

These three stuck in my brain for years.

Richard Victor Mondragon.

As a gringo, I thought it was mon-dragon, but it probably is mon-dragone.

Sounds like a film noir detective name to me.

Garnet Mantor.

She sang in my college choral group. A bit older than most of us. And with the right clothes and dark hairstyle, she also could look like a noir pulp fiction character.

Tangerine Antoinette Richardson.

Another college student. I wonder what nick-name she had? Toni?

Anybody got any other memorable names?

When "Car Talk" was on the radio every week, their favorite name (of a call-in phone person) was Arup Gupta

Parents should give more thought to their kids when they pick a name. Very few kids these days have names like the friends I grew up with in the 1950s.

Here are some names that caught my attention. Yes, actual names.

William Riker
Brooklyn Clum
Billy Barefoot
Jahquivius Williams
Emily Pizza
Maximus Berryman
Akpojetavino Oghenemaro
Behailu Bekeli-Acuri

And -

Adm
Beyonce
Praise Mother Earth
Queen
Goddess
Tololoupo Ogunsanwo

True story ... recently a man in Texas had his name changed legally to "Literally Anybody Else" since he is running for president of the USA. So on the ballot you can vote for Biden, Trump, RFK Jr., or Anybody Else.

I'm surprised that was allowed, but now, he's stuck with it. Do his friends call him "Literally" or just "Liter"? "Here comes Liter!" 🤣

Over Sixty Years ago, I was in the public library at Onawa Iowa and read an article about people with unusual names, only one stuck with me. That name was "Five-Eights Jameson" I wonder what the story is there. This is before DNA testing, but I would guess there was some sort of paternity question, perhaps even involving cousins.
