Sunsets are special times, made even more special by being in a place one loves.

And seeing them with someone you love. Thanks for your comment Kathy.

We stopped at the wall at the end of our walk around Lucca, then boarded the coach for our 2 hour ride back to the ship in Livorno

We were spending the night docked in Livorno, the only such night of the two-week cruise. As we were ready to start dinner, we happened to look outside (easy to do in the World Café, as it is surrounded by floor to ceiling glass). I had my compact camera with me, so I briefly stepped outside, photo 4. If I had only brought my DSLR on the trip, I doubt I would have brought it to dinner and thus would have only been able to take the photo with my phone.

My previous post can be found at https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-803099-1.html, while the first post of this series (that includes a map of all of the places where we stopped) can be found at https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-801137-1.html

Next up: Florence!

I am enjoying your Italy tour very much. I spent my last 6 months in the Army at Camp Darby which about 5 miles north of Livorno. Spent quite a bit of time in Livorno. A nice America Beach was about 2 miles from post. So, I had a great 6-month adventure there.

That sounds like good posting in the Army Gene. I'm glad you are enjoying our tour. We've now been to Italy 3 times: 2 1/2 weeks in 1973, about 2 weeks on this cruise and post cruise and a month last year on a road trip. We want to go back soon; it's a special place.

I really considered re-enlistment at that posting. I would have spent another 3 years there if I had done so. Regrets, yes and no.
