Yes, it was. I had a couple of Yashicas, the Yashica Mat124 and a smaller one.

I had one Yashica rangefinder once and its quality was so poor that I never looked at Yashica again. I saw images made with its medium format cameras and I was impressed with the quality. By then they have improved the quality of their optics.
I am glad Yashica is back, not that I am interested in their products. I am using Olympus as my micro fourths thirds and I am very happy with their cameras and optics.

Yashica is not back. Kyocera sold the trade mark Yashica to Hong Kong-based MF Jebsen Group, and is under its subsidiary JNC Datum Tech International, So it's only Yashica in name.

Cameta Camera ....

I did a lot of driving on Broadway, Amityville (Route 110) when I lived on Long Island. It's a major north/south road.

I clicked on "Shop" on their Facebook page, but that just got me a blank screen. Businesses shouldn't be allowed to sell their name. This really isn't Cameta Camera, which closed in 2020. I couldn't find a website - not a good sign. Cameta Camera used to be very good for selling refurbs.

Looking at the incentive packages, I'm almost tempted - almost. If you make a $199 contribution, you get the camera and remote. If they sold the whole package at that price - maybe $250 - they wouldn't be able to keep them on the shelves. When the price gets to the $500 range, that becomes a tough sell. I see they offer it in a dark blue - nice.

"humble"? Somehow I don't think you know the meaning of that word, sir.

I am not trying to raise money - I have nothing to do with the product, nor do I plan to attempt to get one. But as a piece of photo gear with a brand name many recognize, I thought it might be of general interest to some on this forum.

4th over reaction to a simple suggestion to what might be a better forum topic area to post. Wowza the bite is strong...

Adding "I'm Back" to the name was not a smart move, but it might have been required when they bought the rights to "Yashica."

I'm back and Yashica are 2 separate things. I'm back is a small outfit in Switzerland and Yashica is a company in Hong Kong. I think the project is started by I'm back with the colaboration of Yashica.

It was a stupid and wrong suggestion.

Well, pardon me all to pieces for offending your sensibilities - as this is neither a resource nor a link to some techniques, but rather an attempt at creating an entirely new camera using a once respected brand name (Yashica), and given the proclivity of so many members evidently liking to opine on such things, it seemed general discussion was more appropriate.

I am not a fan of this camera and have no intent on "investing", but I imagine at least a few of the members will find in intersting or amusing or pathetic or whatever. So it's a stab at opening horizons, i guess you could say.
Well, pardon me all to pieces for offending your s... (show quote)

I advocated on another post that perhaps the name of this site should be "How to Take The Joy Out of Photography"
This is another one headed in that direction. I thought the proposal was interesting and who knows where it will lead. Everyone does not have to be interested in the same things.

I didn't mean that you were trying to raise money for yourself, but for KickStarter.

If you posted an ad for Canon, you would be raising money for Canon and it would be posted in Links. Kickstarter is just another business, it's not a hobby.
