Using a small Dell Inspiron desktop, I copied a few dozen files to an external HDD. I connected that drive to my regular computer, and nothing shows on the drive. Going back to the Inspiron, all the files are there, and I can access they. Using Disk Manager, I saw that the drive did not have a drive letter on my main machine. I gave it a letter, and all those copied files showed up. The absence of a letter was no problem when copying files to the drive, but the drive could not display them on a different computer.
Problem without a solution - so far. I mentioned yesterday that I could not use a double-left mouse click on the Inspiron, but after doing an overnight Windows update of sixteen files, it seemed to work. Maybe I was mistaken about the double left-click working yesterday because it doesn't work today. I did another Windows update, but it still doesn't left click as it should. I can right-click and then click on "Open," so I can get access to the files and folders. I tried several mice, so it must be an odd situation with the Inspiron.
If I find a solution, I'll let you know.
I checked the option for "double-click," and that's how it was set. I switched to single and back to double, but it still doesn't work. I switched it to single-click to open anything, and I'll leave it like that.

Check for driver updates from the Mouse Brand instead of Windows. Also check the USB on the computer or try another if you have any unused. I have had mice that worked when the cord or the dongle were plugged in to some usb ports but not others.
