Speaking of smoking, I've been watching a lot of old movies, and there's barely a scene without someone smoking or lighting up. I'm sure the cigarette companies were behind that.

Could be, but I don’t remember seeing any brand names. Mostly actors would take out cigarettes from fancy cigarette cases. It could just be that many more people smoked back then.
