Use of new Lightroom Masking & Topaz

It was my 2nd shot of the day with my R5 (100-500) looking for Great Grey Owls. Bird came from nowhere; I was not set up but took the shot. It was horrible.. Red blinking all over the place and the owl was hardly recognizable.

Sitting in front of the computer using LR Classic I was ready to press delete, with a 2nd thought I decided to try the new LR masking...its AI feature was quick with little effort on my part. I finished in Topaz.

Yep better to shoot correctly the 1st time, but attached is the trash revisited.

Well done and nice work. The software we have now is a joy to use!

Which Topaz program did you use?

I used their current version for Noise/Sharpening. Yep, I needed to pay full price, even though I owned the previous version😒....no upgrade...just pay up.

I've got the Topaz Photo AI that has both noise reduction and sharpening. It is a few months from being the current version but, I like it a lot for many images. I may have to "pay up" but will procrastinate until it is obvious that there is a significantly large improvement.

Topaz pricing, marketing and product development always confuses me.

I don't cull much anymore before having a 2nd look. Nice job.

I do very little post processing (I use Picasa exclusively) but, I have to say, with these results, I might be convinced to rethink things! I would be interested in seeing the original for comparison!

It's still on my travel Computer, but it was totally blown out. I just fussed with it to test the new LR. FYI, I never used masking under the previous version as it was too difficult for my old hands.

AI and yourself really salvaged the image, AHK! Good job!
