Every once in a while I meet someone with a memorable name. A name that sounds like it should be in a novel.

These three stuck in my brain for years.

Richard Victor Mondragon.

As a gringo, I thought it was mon-dragon, but it probably is mon-dragone.

Sounds like a film noir detective name to me.

Garnet Mantor.

She sang in my college choral group. A bit older than most of us. And with the right clothes and dark hairstyle, she also could look like a noir pulp fiction character.

Tangerine Antoinette Richardson.

Another college student. I wonder what nick-name she had? Toni?

Anybody got any other memorable names?

In my first year at grammar school in England we were divided in alphabetic order to 5 classes. After that it depended on your grades with classes from A to E. In the first class we had Anthony Victor Christian Peter Kemp. Of course he was called Tony!

Years ago I knew a lawyer named Northcutt Coyle. I always thought of a pirate.

My Dad's name was Hercules Gennaro (middle name). I won't give the rest of his name but it was a great Italian name. Fortunately for Dad he filled the bill.

Junior high - Hermalean Hornbuckle - Hotter than a $2 pistol. Years later, saw her performing at a strip club, confirming my adolescent fantasies.

In junior high...Andrew Hickenlooper-Blackmoor Chaffee. We were at our graduation rehearsal and it was the first time we had ever heard Andy Chaffee's full name. The entire graduating class burst into laughter. At graduation, they only called him Andrew Chaffee.

I've known a few people with famous names: Tony Bennett, Robert Lee, and three (3!) Billy Martins, to mention a few.
