Smoke from the multitude of moonshine going on in the woods .

Ninety years ago (give or take), it could have been the smoke from the stills.
Yep! Now it's done using Propane inside buildings. Smoke problem solved,
I am 90 years old now and when I was a kid growing up in N.C. all of the Grown Ups said that the smoke in the mountains was caused by the smoke from the whisky stills . As I got older I noticed the favored car was a 40 ford coupe with over sized springs in the rear . Loaded down the car sat normal in its height from the ground . Great for hauling jars and such .
I couldn't live like that. I need clear skies, especially at night.

What stills, there are no stills there!!!! LOL. My dad ran moonshine back then. He had too. He was the oldest off 9 kids and my grandpa was in a mental institution, I never got to see him, I think back now and am so sorry for that. They would have never made it without the money he made making and running shine. Thanks BE SAFE!!

Hi, Don.
I've never done any camping there, but, over the years I have backpacked quite a lot. I love it there.
