I used to be big in motorcycling....particularly long distance stuff....the longest trip was 2400 miles in parts of 10 different States. On one lesser length trip, I rode the entire length of the Natchez Trace...starting in Natchez and ending in Nashville, TN. Along that stretch, I saw countless huge corn fields. At one point, I parked the bike and walked a little ways on the original Trace that the slaves would use. That trip was in 2005.
We did Natchez along with the full Blue Ridge Parkway in the spring of 1989. Great trip...also went to Oak Alley and the island where Tabasco sauce is made...escapes me now. We were driving a new F250 Powerstroke with a 11 foot Lance cabover camper. Went all the way down to Key West and had a Jimmy Buffet "Cheeseburger" and kicked some of Hemmingway's cats off the porch to get in for the tour. We circled the U.S. on that trip. When we got home, I hunted mule deer in five states and the next year went to Alaska for the first time on a 24 day backpack hunt. Came home from that trip and hunted those five states again for elk and deer. A flood of memories typing this. America has been berry berry good to me...to quote an old baseball player!!
