For the Nikon owners who may be interested, they're having a four-day Refurbished sale from today through Monday. I snagged a deal on the lens I wanted not long ago from Amazon, a 24-200 for $720. Lo and behold, Nikon has the refurb for $635 including tax. Sometimes it pays to wait. 😣

All you would have saved is $85. Is that $85 worth what you would have missed by waiting?

Truth is for the 85 dollars saved, he could have a hamburger, fries, and a drink for two...maybe.

When you look at it like that, it's easier to swallow. 😊 I'm playing with the new camera and lens and all seems well so far. The reason I bought from Amazon to begin with was the gift card balance I needed to spend. There's the downside to store gift cards... you have to spend them in the store where they originated. Anyway, spilt milk, I'm happy. The next adventure is getting my first quote from KEH... it's time to do so some unloading.

How long do you wait for something that you don't know is coming? What if it never comes?

In spite of the buzz kills here, the point of the post was that there is a refurbished sale on Nikon gear. Maybe concentrate on that.

Nikon is actually pretty regular about the refurb sale... about every six to eight weeks. The problem there is my lack of memory cells.

The Lemon Drop, voted the best hamburger and fries in Madison County: two onion burgers, two fries, and two medium cokes cost $24.50

Seen it. Had or have a refurbed Z8 for $3200. Not bad for a stacked sensor & all the video features if it holds focus.

I saw that, was tempted, but then found out about the warranty, it’s only 90 days.

No kidding! I was shocked when I went to the Golden Arches the other day. I rarely ever go there. 2 Big Macs, frieds and a drink... $30.00+ I was shocked. When I received the order I got a McD's bag and fries container with an upside down arches "Golden M" and what looks like Chinese script on the bag and fries container. No clue what that was all about.

The extra ten percent off the already reduced prices makes refurb (used) a very attractive alternative for some of us and in many cases I do even better warranty-wise buying that way than buying from Nikon who only provide 90 days or one year for new. I've had claims experience with both Mack and Allstate and both excellent. So used can be more economical with a longer warranty than new.

My latest comparison is the Z7ii that I just bought coupled with the 24-200 lens (that I could have saved even more on, had I waited a bit). New from Nikon US with a one year warranty would have been around $3100 (after a $700 discount on the body and a $100 discount on the lens). Used cost me $2350 which includes a 6mo Roberts Camera warranty and a one year Allstate warranty on the body.

Well, if you're risk averse and need that extra nine months, they're extending a $100 discount on the (new)
Z mount 24-200.
