Nice. Your photos remind me of the town I live in, only cleaner.

At Mt. Pleasant, Utah and their historic buildings. We love to drive through these old towns and capture their beauty. Architecture today seems so sterile by comparison. This will probably be a multi part series to showcase Mt. Pleasant before moving on to other locations.
Nice work, it's good to see some of these great small towns being well kept.
This is a terrific array of shots, Jim. I see a lot of old towns in my stomping grounds. However, there's rarely more than 2 or 3 really interesting buildings and almost never do I see the colors you've recorded. The cost of materials, and even more of a consideration, the lack of skilled labor that can create such front facades insures you won't see new stuff looking like that. Thanks for sharing what you've shown here.

Nice set of images of small town architecture. A lot of unique styles reflect individual tastes of the builders. I suspect these type of buildings are more common that you allow. I think county seats all over rural America have buildings like this. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, county seats were the place where all significant business were located along with their owner's houses. A lot of Victorian houses in rural counties in Ohio.
I think that a lot of the small towns with their architecture have been swallowed up in urban sprawl and sadly with more to come.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Reyss...appreciate your comments and interest in these old towns. Hope to bring more to the hog over time as we check out rural areas in Utah.

Wow, memory lane... I recall in Leesburg Florida the "Main Street" was from late 1800s and up to 1920. The new mall devastated business. I recall the bank was a Marble Roman structure architecture.
Thank you for showing these beautiful structures. They upgraded them with bold paint of colors not of the age when built... wonderful.

Nice set, Jim. Some towns treasure their historic sections. I think my town still has maybe half a dozen storefronts that are still historic in appearance. All the others have been altered in some way over the years to suit an owners ideas for the appearance of their business. Too bad our city managers and elected officials didn’t have the foresight to put in place historical preservation ordinances that would have saved the old town ambiance.
Stan
Thank you Stan and I agree. These few structures should be preserved instead of making way for the sterile buildings being constructed in their place!!
Many thanks Karin...good to see you stopped by!!
