You are likely confusing it with the original 47th Street Photo which in its day was a very good store.

I do remember 47th Street Photography back in the day.
Back then, Every Other Storefront in that area claimed to be selling cameras...

Many years ago 47th Street photo (not 42nd St) was a reputable dealer. That was a long, long time ago and they are NOT related.

Great comment.....Thanks for informing with this correction. They used to be a great store...now, use B&H or Adorama.

I had issues with Adorama when I had a problem with a $25 item and they gave me a run around from he'll.
Goodbye Adorama hello B and H

Hmmmmm, 42 Street Photo is located on 32nd Street. I’d avoid a store that is that deceptive.

That is not too far like Abe's of Maine which is in New Jersey.

Do nothing. Most of us are far away from them. Some of us are thousands of miles away. Why do we need to run.

I've heard ABC - Adorama, B&H and Calumet (I think) are the most trustworthy. But, be aware that B&H and I think Adorama sell grey market as an optional choice, but they will indicate those products as "international model" or "international warranty" - best to call if you're not sure. An unusually low price is the usual indicator for grey market, which is a term rarely used by retailers - look for "international model" or something similar in the description. CALL IF YOU ARE NOT SURE.

Actually if you live nearby just go by the store. Just looking at the storefront will tell you a lot about their businesses. With a website you can't see very well how they do their business but seeing the store in person will tell you a lot. So really don't need to run away from these bad stores. Just go by the stores and you will know.

There are so many reliable dealers. Avoid shops with low prices. The manufactures set prices, so a low price is a warning sign.

Some of the reliable dealers -

Adorama, Amazon, B&H, Costco, Crutchfield, Hunt's, KEH, Robert's, and probably some others. An authorized dealer will be approved by the manufacturer, so it will be reputable, and the prices will be just about the same from one seller to another.

I would stay away from them unless you are looking for grey market gear. Prices are good but good luck on getting anything fixed or warranty. Abes is similar although they sell a combination of grey market and US market goods. B&H or adorama are your best bet IMHO

Be very careful where or who buy equipment from. If a deal is too good to be true, it probably is. Both Abes of Maine and 42 street are not an authorized camera dealer for my brand which is Sony. Make sure that you will be covered under a warranty and that you can get any software updates that should be available to you.

Have a look at Abe's of Maine if you really want low prices.

You are a very bad influence, Mr Sager!
You should know that people cannot get great deals at Abe’s of Maine since they moved to New Joisey.

As for 42nd Street Photo you may be better at B&H Photo. I have always gone there and am extremely satisfied with their robust online service, too.
