This was a funny situation. In an old Charlie Chan movie, "The Hotten Tot Club" had a Candid Camera Night. People could bring their cameras - lots of big ones - and take pictures of the dancing girls, or whatever else caught their eye. I think there was a photo contest involved. People were admitted as couples only, so it wouldn't just be a bunch of men with cameras.
There were some large cameras and some 35mm. Cameras using flash had very large units with huge flashbulbs. At least they weren't using flash powder. One flash was tall and angular - almost triangular. We have it so much better these days.
Hotten Tots is now a bad thing. Basis for expletive Mary Poppins haters.
But speaking of flashing ...
I've been diligently ignoring my flash project.
I do have a set of once used flash bulbs, and a doen empty disposable cameras.
I can take my solder kit and disassemble the bulb, and insert the camera flash stick in there.
Me wife interrupts me. Often.
With all the cell phones with cameras around, every night is Candid Camera night!
