For those not familiar with the latest Viltrox lenses, they are excellent image quality, solid build quality with excellent autofocus, and are garnering great reviews from top testers. And they are amazingly affordable for this excellent quality.

Full disclosure ,I currently own the new Viltrox 16mm f1.8 Autofocus lens in E-mount. It has excellent GM-like image quality and build, with some exclusive features, and amazingly was only $549 USD list. I use it with my Sony A1, A9III, A7RV.

Viltrox is a new player to compete on quality and price with other top lens makers.

And no I am not sponsored ,and I receive no compensation whatsoever for buying my Viltrox lens which I bought with my own hard-earned money.

Cheers

I will second the appraisal of Viltrox build quality. I bought a Viltrox 56mm f1.4 DX which I used twice on a Nikon Z50. It is an excellent lens. I recently sold th Z50 with several Nikon lenses, as we are moving again and I wanted to prune my equipment since we are downsizing.

Since I am no longer going to be using DX equipment, I will probably be posting the Viltrox on UHH for sale soon, along with some other items.

Here is a short demo video, about the Viltrox 16mm f1.8, all shot with a Viltrox 16mm f1.8 Lens. This is soon to be in Nikon Z-mount , and is already on sale in Sony E-mount.

That's nice, but for over 55 years of photography, 40 of those professionally, I will continue to get great IQ, endurance, and higher resale value from riding with the brand.
Thanks for your post though.

Well I have over 55 years as a photographer, 50 of those years as an International Award Winning professional shooting all subjects around the world, and I am also a longtime Professor of Photography at a state university and I keep up with the current technology, and the new reality is that the best third-party lens can equal and even surpass the image quality and build quality of the best OEM lenses, just a fact.

I am not a OEM snob, never was. I can afford to use the best gear to do the job, and often that is third-party gear.

I have owned the best of Nikon, Canon, Leica, Hasselblad and other brands including dozens of their best lenses, and the new reality is that the very best of the third-party lenses don't take a back seat to them anymore.

As for Sony, I have owned Sony A6500, A7RII, A7RIII, A7III, A9, A7RIV and currently own A1, A9III, A7RV. I currently own 14 superb quality E-mount lenses covering 10mm to 600mm, from Sony (GM and G), Sigma Art, Tamron, Viltrox, Laowa. And I kept one of my Canon DSLR-designed lenses, the TS 17mm f4 Tilt-shift lens, which I use with a MC-11 lens adapter on my Sony bodies.

Use what you like and be happy, I choose to take advantage of the best of today's gear, and that includes both top OEM and top third-party gear. Many other top pros and hobbyists alike around the world are doing the same.

Cheers and best to you.
