I offered these lenses for sale earlier in the week. I've had two esteemed UHH members ask me why so expensive? As I stated in the ad these are all like new. The Canon RF 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM, for example cost me $2976, new from B&H. In "like new" (as is mine) condition, from MPB, this lens is selling for $2399. MPB offered me $1700. So, I figured a fair price would be $1950... and that's still $700 cheaper than MPB for the same lens and condition. And I'm paying for the postage and insurance. How low should I go?
If you're interested check these prices against MPB. You can find all of these cheaper on ebay, but are they all this nice? Do they have the original packaging? Clean glass? Lens covers? No scratches or marks of any kind?

What in hell are you doing with $2976 lens in the first place. If you just got the lens last year, no way are you going to get full value. Put the lens away for about 10 years to get back full vaule.

On another web site it looks like that lens is selling for $19XX.00 in recent sales. I think your price is fair. Is the lens still under warranty? If you have the receipt put that fact into your ad it may help.
Curious…are you switching brands or just selling excess?

At 76, I'm selling all of my Canon gear and putting the money into a Miata. I've still got a Sony RX 100 VII, a Sony RX 10 MKIV, a Sony A6000, a Nikon A900, an Olympus TG5 and a few other point and shoots so I'll have plenty of gear to take photos of me and my granddaughter in the Miata.

Love it!! I’m your age and envious of the fact that you can get out of a Miata. I find I can fall into my buddy’s Corvette with ease, but climbing out is another story. Good for you to recognize that quality time with your granddaughter is more important than accumulating “gear”.

Sorry to burst your bubble. Most of us have been in your shoes. Everything sells, if the price is right.

been there, done that.
I recommend that you keep documents of your original cost in case you sell to EBay or other site who may report sales. This happened to me when I helped out a friend's estate. Ebay sent me notice of sales receipts as, but I tallied all that with the costs of sales and original price and ended up with a business loss for the tax return.[/quote]

Oh, you're not bursting my bubble. The price is right. I checked many sources before advertising the equipment. I'm not arguing what's right and what's wrong price wise. It's only been a few days. I've got all the time in the world. As Toby mentioned earlier you could advertise a $10 item for $1 and then be offered $.50. That's the nature of the beast.

You might consider giving it a try on e-Bay; it's a larger market than here.

I've never sold anything on ebay. I wouldn't know how to go about it. Actually, I have no desire to get involved with ebay. I prefer to sell here on UHH. You can check my feedback, I've always had excellent results and I've never had a complaint. Everything I've sold has been in "like new" condition. I think it has to do with a touch of OCD.

In the "first place" I've got plenty of money to play with and where in the hell I spend it is up to me. Why would you ask a question like what am I doing with a $2976 lens in the first place? Why would you suggest that there's "no way" I'm going to get full value? Thanks for your feedback.

It took practice, but after playing around a little I found that by swinging both of my legs out at the same time, it's much easier for me to get out. My buddy has an older Ferrari and I find that more difficult to get in and out of. Can you imagine that I said that out loud...that I'd rather have a Miata over a Ferrari? Shame on me.

Your prices are exceptionally fair to any buyer.

Not an issue for me to obsess about. I can afford a Miata. Not so the Testarossa. (Well - maybe I could if I sold all of my Nikon gear, but then I read on UHH that resale values suck! ). 😎

Whoa, not a Testarossa but a 328GTS. Around $70,000.

There was a good burger, pizza, ice cream stand near us which closed ~ 20 yrs ago. It was up for sale, but I'm told they demanded way too much, maybe 5 yrs ago is was literally falling down and was demolished, still an empty lot sitting there. You can always demand anything, but you rarely get it.

You can "demand anything" or you can check MPB, KEH, B&H, ebay and other sources and come up with a fair and equitable price depending on condition and more often than not get a fair price.
