Don't like the buffer of this D7100, it's slow and limits the amount of shots. Make sure you use fast speed SD cards, it may help. I think once you had D7000, you should try a D7500 or a D500 if money allows. 7100 is not much better than 7000. Good luck with your new toy.

This is also my only complaint concerning the D7100. I own both the D7100 and the D7200. The D7200 has a larger buffer and does not fill up nearly as fast as the D7100 does.

I had the D7200, close in specs to the D7100. Loved that camera, IQ was fantastic for a crop sensor. Took many great pics with it, but sold it to raise $$$ temporarily, then migrated to mirrorless (Z6ii/Z7ii). Would have kept it though if I didn't need a short term cash infusion. The D7100/7200 are well built DSLRs! Buffer is not as deep on the 7100 as is on the newer 7200.Enjoy!

For us old folks, who shoot one picture at a time, and the closest we come to multiple exposures is the three shot variation to a jpeg, the buffer size is no problem. I have been using the D7100 for 8 years, selecting my photo subjects with a similar thought train used for film, and have never jambed up a camera. My big change with digital was to shoot more pictures, many of subjects I would not waste film on, for the fun of shooting and the challenge of getting a picture under adverse conditions.
While I agree that a bigger buffer is better, and the D7200 is a bit better for a fast shooter, these cameras are not for the machine gun shooter that uses the new gear.

Love my D7100 and while it is now a backup camera, it has been worth the investment. Put in proper to great light and it rivals my D850. Transferring between these two cameras while trying to capture the moment is easy, especially due to back button focusing. Example, shooting bison from an open platform. One second you are shooting the females at a distance and then the bull forwards his head within inches of the camera...7100 with 14-24 was a great solution. By the way, after buying the 7100 I invested in nothing but FX lenses.

Downside - one downside is the D7100 is not a good low light camera. I cap my auto ISO to 3200 (comparison, I cap the D850 to 25600).

I had 2 D7100 cameras since they came out. I recently went mirrorless with thre Z6ii, sold one of my D7100s but still use the other on a semi regular basis. GREAT camera!

A great resource cheap enough, used book for a used camera.

I like my D7200 but miss my D7100.

I have a 7100 and I love it. I don't like the buffer.
The entire camera was upgraded with the 7200. But it still is a very capable camera.
