Wow! There have been twelve versions of the GoPro. At $350 each, that adds up to quite a bit if you've kept up with each release. I have older versions and generic versions, but there isn't much "Action" in my life, so I seldom use these action cameras. I should put some on eBay. Run-time and overheating have always been issues for this camera. They say that most people run a GoPro for half a minute at a time. I've used mine for over an hour, and they kept running - not shutting down because of a dead battery of overheating.
I have a GoPro 10 Black and find little use for it other than beach photos. It is 20 megapixels and waterproof but I find it difficult to use with all the menus and lack of controls.
I have been thinking of selling mine and possibly using an Olympus TG-5,6 or & 7. Whatever I can find used for a reasonable price. I do not go to the beach often but I sure do not want to take my good gear when I do go.

Yes, the controls are not very intuitive, and they were even worse on the early models. If you use one all the time, I'm sure it's a no-brainer.

I had a GOPRO Black w/ waterproof housing it was so aggravating to use I gave it to my Boss !!
I also have the GoPro 10 Black, & used it the last few yrs. (Never then having a DSLR) Living in S. FL., I like it for snorkeling near here & in the Keys. It's rated waterproof, deeper than I snorkel, but another gentleman on a dive trip convinced me to get the dive case for extra protection. I only change anything from photo to video, and can easily do that bobbing on top. I now have a Nikon D3300 with a "normal" and zoom lens, & like learning that, but that one won't be going near the water.
I have an older GoPro, version 3 White. I was trying it out for shooting timelapses, it's small size makes it easier to hide from thieves. I found it didn't really work all that well (the external battery would disconnect) but had better picture quality than my Brinno. Might dig it out and try again.
