Not to change the subject, but I tried programming once for almost two years with Pascal. I cant program but I can build good gaming computers. Thats when I decided to drive an 18 wheeler for 28 years until I had a heart attack.

EXCEPT for the heart attack part!

I wrote test programs for integrated circuits and semiconductors (transistors, diodes, etc.).
At one point, between work and "hobby", I had a dozen programming languages in my head.
Only four remain in my head now, for the most part?
(Pascal wasn't one of them.)

If Microsoft gave a damn about its billions of users, they would build more security featured into their operating systems.

You could say the same thing about every OS on the planet.

That is impressive! Do they even still use Pascal?

Concerning the heart attack; I was in a waiting room at the hospital waiting on my Wife in surgery having a port put in her chest for iron injections. They took me right down to the ER and got some pictures of the heart, then took me right up to surgery and put two stents in my heart. That was in 2007, and the ticker has been okay so far. When my Wife woke up after her surgery she told me that when her nurse told her that "oh, by the way, your Husband had a heart attack while you were in surgery", she said she almost had a heart attack. When my surgeon
opened one of the stents I could feel the warm blood rush through the artery. That was amazing to feel that.

I just got Malewarebytes - it's on sale for 35% off. I've been using the free version for years but with all of the horrible news about ransomware and other hackers, I decided to get what my computer group considers the best 24/7 protection. I got the version that comes with their VPN. Check it out.

I'll guess not for the Pascal question... (Nor FORTRAN)

SO glad the attack happened where it did! That saved precious time!!!

I hate these utilities that say I have 12,000 malware files on my computer and then say they can delete them - if I start paying every year.

I recently got a notice from CCleaner saying I had a dozen outdated drivers. When I clicked on Update, it asked for money. There are free driver updaters available, but I prefer to wait for the software company itself to let me know that there are updates available. I got a notice from Apple today, and from Epson yesterday.

Another thing - I avoid deleting cookies - sign-in data - as part of a clean-up routine because signing back into sites can be a nuisance.

Gt the same notice from CCleaner. I'm not paying either. Interesting we both have 12 out dated drivers. Hmmmm

Jerry - - - - I delete my cookies every night along with other junk files that CCleaner shows me. The next day that you go to the site whose cookies that were deleted last night, puts the cookie right back on my computer for me to delete again. I run CCleaner every night, but never use their "updater" software.

When my cookies are gone, they're gone, and I had to get a code via email or cell phone to log back in. Just like in real life, I'm keeping all the cookies I can.

I read somewhere that whenever Windows does one it's frequent udates all the drivers are updated in the process. Also when go to update the drivers manually I receive the notice that the updates are current.

I forget where I thought I read that, but if that is all they do why does so many softwares give you the option to get rid of them?

I believe the European Union changed its software / program requirements in 2023, making mandatory “opt-out” choices available.

There has since been a notable change in the manner in which companies and websites must give an option to tailor or decline cookies.

It is likely easiest to just modify the software once — to comply with regulations - than to market different software in different countries, and potentially face monetary damages if the “wrong” people have cookies placed on their machines . . . .
