Ya, I can just imagine all the lawsuits in indictments well in present is an office from the other side, especially from Democrats. President should have immunity which he or she does. Has nothing to do with dictatorship because that president can be indicted after he or she leaves office for criminal acts that occurred before during or after being president. If having immunity is dictatorial, than why can a president be impeached and removed?
I'm not disputing immunity while in office (and I recognize that a DOJ memo says DOJ should not prosecute a President while in office). Trump's argument is far more drastic than that: he is arguing that a President has immunity from prosecution for any acts he did while President for the rest of his life, not just while he is in office. Under his argument, President Biden could shoot Trump at a debate and could never be prosecuted.
