Does it have its own domain also?

Back in the '80s I was working with an instrument that was run by a computer. The previous guy had designed a program that ran the instrument continually so it didn't need human input. Of course every so often the system would crash so he programmed in a break that would shut everything down and restart the program (probably once a day during a time when things weren't usually happening). He called it something like a 'watchdog timer'. After he published a description of the system he got a cease and desist letter from somebody who had a patent on 'watchdog timer'.

The point is that some such device is always needed in computer operated systems that run unattended. (You just have to call it something else and/or not publish the name you used). Every one of my computers runs continually. The IT guy said that a large part of the reason for computer failure was due to startup stress. I have no idea whether that's a thing, but we were advised not to turn off our computers when we left the office. I continued that practice after I retired. Every so often, maybe 2-3 weeks, the computer would start acting strangely. The best solution was to reboot. That happens with my phone, with my laptop, and with my desktop. I suspect all the other computers in the house have some timer that resets things regularly. I can't believe that everything runs forever without any problems without needing an occasional reboot.

The toothbrush will send a message to your dentist and let them know the frequency of brushing your teeth, will report on the health of your gums, and check for cavities! Then when you use the worn-out toothbrush to clean small parts, it will detect rust and generate ads for lubricants!

Funny! In that case I just hope they never put a processor and wi fi into toilet paper. I don’t really want people knowing my bathroom habits! Gives a whole new meaning to calling someone an “ugly ass”!
