THIS IS NEW BUT HOW DOES THE DOWNLOAD FUNCTION IN THIS FORUM WORK? I'VE SEEN IT USED QUITE OFTEN BUT HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT WORKS.

First lose the caps.

If the inage uploaded to UHH is over a certain size and Store Original is checked, UHH will creat a thumbnail image (smaller) for display on the thread. Since the upload image is large enough, the Download option appears so one can download the original size image. I Store Original is NOT checked, only a thumbnail is created.

If the uploaded image is the same size or smaller than the thumbnail would be, there will be no downloadable image.

Thumbnails are used in the thread to keep the bandwidth down as not everyone will download the original, thus keeping the bandwidth down. Most ISPs charge extra if the allotted bandwidth for a site is exceeded.

and clicking on the download shows you the full size picture but doesn't download it. You have to save image as to save it.

So are you implying that he is asking about the mechanics of how the download process works? Maybe I should’ve been a little more detailed I thought about it after I closed out before if he wanted to know how it worked or he was having trouble. Doing it himself

Yup, people's interpretation of different things are always different also.

But, you browser is "downloading" the image from the UHH server to display it,
it's just not downloaded to one's computer, as a permanent file.

Concept, perception, interpretation ...

I thought about that, too, after I already made my reply, but it will just be speculation as to what the OP was actually asking and when I finally get up and get on my desktop, I was going to reply and ask specifically what he’s asking

Vague generalities seems to be the writing method of the time.

Succinctness helps alleviate that malady.
But alas.....

Yes, I agree, that is why I replied to the OP. I am up now and alert, so far no reply from the OP. Not surprised.
I was unsure what he was asking.

re: vague generalities - THEY know exactly what they are talking about (referring to),
too bad many cannot convey that accurately/definitively to others.

Well I would have liked to help the OP if I could and knew exactly what he\she is asking even though it 'appears' the process. So I thought maybe OP is asking so a image could be download the PC from UHH ? or saved off the posting,
or just a simple curious question of how it works.
Oh well, I hope we hear from the OP to clear it up so my foggy eyes and brain may help.
