Wedding photographer/videographer preparation awareness??

Questions from those asking advice for doing wedding photography usually include replies advising to be prepared for any sorts of unexpected surprises or potential problems.

Maybe you've already seen this story of an outdoor wedding in England, but I just have to wonder if the videographer chose that particular spot from which to record this part of the ceremony, in preparation for potential action from the observer at the upper far right edge of the frame.

It tickled my funny bone!

The way the bride turns to look at first, makes me wonder if she doubts it's real, and is checking to see if maybe it's just a person in the audience goofing off with a good imitation.

Yep, that would make one wonder! A father of a bride-to-be told me he just knew he was going to cry when it came time to walk his daughter down the aisle. I told the daughter to say something funny just as they start down the aisle, so she said to him "Did you slop the pigs before you came?". He laughed all the way down the aisle.
He later told me he was going to shoot me because people must have thought he was glad to get rid of her because he almost chuckled all through the ceremony.

That's priceless !!

Every bit as good as the video in this one, except only the bride and her father were in on knowing the funny business.

I've always thought that "Be prepared for the unexpected" was a ridiculous expression. There are so many "unexpected situations," that being prepared for them isn't possible. Maybe just bring a flashlight and a first aid kit.

On a motorcycle forum, I once asked the riders what they carried in their trailers. The total list was so long that it would require an 18-wheeler to carry everything that everyone mentioned.

The least prepared wedding photographer I ever encountered was the one who borrowed my camera to do his shooting. He had sold his gear to buy airfare to relocate and assumed/hoped he could borrow a camera at the site.

Funny! He should have offered $5.00 to those attending to give him all their pictures.

1) Make sure everybody involved that this is a major event.
I've been to a few where the photog was considered an annoyance.
10, 20 years from now, what kind of pictures do they want to look thru?
