Bruce, to clarify. I used the term Oriental to describe where the beautiful lady is from without revealing what particular country she’s from. That’s all. No intention to sound or be racist. After all, I am Oriental myself. I can’t understand why there is all this fuss about my caption. I would have preferred a discussion on my photo. The term Oriental may be outdated (by western standards) but definitely not racist. Strange how I don’t find the term offensive but others who aren’t from the Orient believe it is. Now regarding the photo itself, I edited it to make it look antique or vintage. For artistic effect, so to speak.

PS I avoid using the description Asian as some prefer because it is a term often used by pornhubs or dating sites. Hehe 😀.

I can't for the life of me find anything remotely offensive (and bugger me, I have tried) in the word Oriental. That is about as offensive as calling an Asian an Asian! The word actually has an exotic feel to it; anything but offensive. And, Oriental pertains to the far East - Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, China, etc - which, I assume, she probably is. Should I be offended by being called European because that's where I'm from? Heck . . . go the whole way and call me a white, male, European mother f----r. Wouldn't bother me at all! And you know why? There is too much more unpleasant shit in the world to worry about without the distraction of such trivialities!

Exactly, Paul. Never imagined that the term Oriental would trigger off any reaction, negative or positive.

I agree with PaulG and you. I NEVER would have thought this would have turned like this but there is no way I am going to sit by and stand up sensibility. The ignorance and darkness cannot stand in the light of truth especially prompted to explain as I simple asked them who, what, etc. did this crap come from. Of course the standard drone reply is to throw labels at (me) one and name calling as I was called stupid etc.
As you can see no one answered the question, why is is the wrong word to use ?
