Holy smoke! Went to buy a new android phone. Amazing.. one has a 200 mp rear camera. I can't imagine that. They had it wired up to the display so did not get to try it out. My last phone was 7 years old, the newer ones are amazing. Why would anyone want a 200 mp rear camera? What are your thoughts?

Please define "rear camera" for a phone.

Too much technobabble! If that new Android is worth considering the OP should just POST a few images at various zoom settings. The proof of the pudding is in the tasting!

I don’t know how you could take a photograph with a camera with such low resolution. Really, 200 mp? That would be 200 millipixesa or 0.2 pixels. Do you mean 200 megapixels = 200 Mp. Only a factor of 1 billion difference.

The advertisement stated 200 mp.

As stated in my post the phone was at the phone store teathered to the display rack. There was no way to test it out.

They are actually getting very good. I recently purchased a Samsung Note 20 Ultra with 3 cameras, one of which is 108 mp. For something that is always with you, they are a lot of fun to play with.

I would prefer to take the front of people, not their rear.

My S21 replaced my S-III, ONLY because the S-III would no longer work as a phone after 1/1/2023.

The S-III met my needs, why replace it if it works?
To have the latest and greatest? <ROFL>

I still have a flip-phone...does all that I need from a phone (I also have cameras for taking pictures )

Forget the phone cameras.
I want the Leica q3. $6000 of gorgeous photos. 60mp 28mm f1.7 lens. I can’t afford it, but I can lust after it.

Here is a 200 mp photo (although the Meta Data shows 150 mp for some reason), 6x optical zoom and low light. Taken about 20 feet away from subject. Not a great photo, only one to show the capability. I'm not sure if UHH's app will handle the file.

Sorry, it's not allowing me to add my photo. I've tried a number of times. I can't figure out how to delete my post, either.

- What file extension are you trying to add?
- Did you wait for the upload acknowledgement and preview before clicking Send?

Only Admin can delete posts. You have some time to Edit the post where you can delete the text. After which the post is permanent, unless you ask Admin to delete it.

Yes, my Samsung S23 Ultra has up to 50 and 200mp cameras. Takes nice pix in normal mode with less. But I still far prefer using my FF DSLR.
