Dad gum city slickers don't even recognize a collapsible egg basket.
They used to have really big ones with several fold-outs for people with a lot of laying hens so as production went up and down they could use the same basket when gathering eggs.

Yep and they kept eggs for use in the home out on the kitchen cabinet instead of in the fridge. I syill do that. I had some one time that stayed out for SIX weeks and they were still good.

You are right Jack, you do need to know how old the eggs are. Thanks for looking and commenting.

The commercial processing method for eggs in the US requires that eggs be refrigerated after processing.
Un-"processed" (farm fresh) eggs do not.

I was thinking a biscuit basket if you cover it with a kitchen towel. But, egg basket works better. Thanks for the puzzle, Jo.

I thought only if they are not washed. If they are washed they need to be refrigerated.

Yep. It's only 30 years old. A friend made it out of electric fence wire. She also made me a tiny one, no bigger around than a coffee cup.

Thanks Dave. I'm guessing that back in the early 1900s, almost everyone had one of some kind.
