Ah, but the story or one like it is on MSN, CNBC, CBS, The Guardian, BBC and Al Jazeera among others. In addition to the aprx 4000 the gangs also took over a smaller prison with about 1400-1500 prisoners.
Troops/Police to hunt down the gangs and escapees are being asked for from the UN by the Prime Minister who is in Africa where one nation has already pledged 1000 police/troops to help Haiti's 9000-man National Police Force.

The leader of the gangs, a former police officer, seems to be attempting a coup.
