Some craftspeople cut the skis up and make chairs out of them.

Cutting them up and using them to build other things appears to be the first choice of responders..

Thanks for commenting.

There is/was some fantastic laminated wood in skies!!

Hi, Frank.

That's my preferred solution as well. Great minds think alike. Other folks had similar ideas. This forum, therefore, is crawling with great minds.

You got me...I have no idea.

When I was a kid up in Fairbanks, Alaska back in the 50s, a friend of mine's dad bought enough Army surplus skies to build a huge picket fence around their place. He'll of a job, he had to drill holes and use screws to make it work. They were made out of very good hardwood and you couldn't drive a nail through them. Looked great, only one in town.

I've made several adirondack chairs and foot stools out of old skis. Those look very old, pre-shaped skis, prior to 2000.

This post has been very educational for me. I expected to hear one or two successful accountings of old skis being used in projects of some sort. But the number of successes and the variety of projects has really been enlightening.

I appreciate your visit.

The ideas and suggestions have been a lot more than I expected. This forum is full of accomplished people, whose talents range beyond photography.
