Welcome back, friend. I was worried when I hadn't seen any posts in quite a while. These photos are stunning, especially the moon and eagle. I am happy to hear you are recovering.
In the interim, I bought a Z8 and am still trying to learn how to use it.

Nice images nicely done. I've suffered from sciatica. It's terrible and quite debilitating. Believe it or not, my horse cured mine. He had a VERY long stride, and galloping was just the right movement to sort of fix it. It's a movement that's difficult to replicate.
Nice variety of photos, Elliott. And, wishing you a speedy recovery.
Glad your surgery went well! Excellent set of photos!

Excellent photography!
Back problems are a real pain. I have had 3 lower back surgeries myself. Huge improvement, but not perfect... Be careful (what ever that means)! Live does not end at back surgeries!
Congratulations on a successful operation. Just do the rehab like they tell you and you should do fine. The first photo is spectacular. I've never seen such a detailed photo of the moon. Great job.

A little over 30 something years ago, I blew out L4 and L5, so I know the “joy” of foot dragging sciatica pain. Back then, surgery was really touch and go and usually less than 80% effective. Even now it’s not a decision to take lightly. Pleased to hear you are doing well…. The images are beauties! Well done!
You have done well in three months. Long may you continue to improve and be able to continue with your hobby.
How can we get hold of your written macros? I am assuming you have written how to take a macro properly.
Heather
Happy to see you back, Elliott, I wish you a speedy and complete recovery. Excellent set of pictures, especially your moon capture.

Are you a veteran a disabled veteran by chance? I have dealt with lower back pain for 5 decades and have been on opiate pain killers. My wife's cousin who is a doctor of nursing at a VA hospital told us about battlefield acupuncture. When she saw is this past October, she brought a kit with her. There are 5 pins per ear which aren't painful. They stay in the ear for 3-5 days until they fall out on their own. I have been pain free since the end of October 2023. I am off opioids. I get a treatment every 2 weeks. I am happier than pigs in sh*t

My sciatic pain got so bad that I struggled walking and doing simple tasks. After two months of PT my therapist convinced me to go back to my neurosurgeon (he performed my first back surgery in 2018). Last Wednesday (2/21/24) he repaired a ruptured disc (L4/S1) and removed some arthritic tissue which was also impinging on the nerve ending. I will have the 28 staples removed this coming Monday.
During my home stay I did lots of reading on many subjects and learned some new postprocessing techniques. The first images below are photos taken previously but processed during my home stay.
I bought Keyboard Maestro (for automating your Mac) and have written several macros which are time savers. I think I 'll learn AppleScript as well.
As I'm not allowed to lift more than 5 lbs for 6 weeks, I ventured out yesterday with my Z50 and an 11mm manual focus Pergear prime lens. I walked 1 mile and felt very stable. I'll keep this going for a while until I can get back to using the Z9. The last two photos were taken at Exton Park yesterday.

These are excellent images. I hope that you find improvement soon and don't get ahead of yourself in your recuperation.
