I got one of those calls from “Weendows” last night telling me that there was a problem with my computer. I told the guy that I didn’t have “Weendows”. I told him that I developed my own OS called Digitally Operated Open Reiteration System. I call it DOORS. I explained that it uses a special processor that I built called Wide Universal Design. I told him that I simply called it a WUD chip. I further explained that I could open several DOORS at once due to a graphic device called High Intensity Neutron Graphic Engine and that I have three of them installed. I told him that I refer to them as HINGES. They guy hung up on me!

Could I enlist on your network? It sounds highly engineered and would most likely repel those irritating callers.
I think it would interface with my micro fluxnomitor bio-enhanced platform perfectly.

Now maybe others can see why I always answer unknown callers. See all the fun one can have.

I haven't gotten a call from them in a while...but when I did I would play with them for a bit until they hung up on me.

I would start off...

1. Which computer....I have 4 in the house. "You're Weendoze computer!"
2. I don't have any "Weendoze" computers....they're all Macs. "Oh well.....then we're getting error messages from them."
3. Why do you care? Ignore them. "It means that there's something wrong with your computer."
4. Okay...which of the four? They then give me some fictitious serial number.
5. I don't have those listed....that doesn't help me.
6. Since you're getting the messages....what is the IP address of the computer. (All of the computers are on my home Wi-Fi network....so they all have the same outgoing IP address). They give me one. Nope....none of the my computers have that IP address.
7. At this point, they're getting frustrated with me....and usually hang up.

This is for spam email rather than calls, but it’s still amazing: https://youtu.be/4o5hSxvN_-s?si=Lr7Jlb2YH9R7g8US

I should mention that there is a little bit of crudity in there.

I think he's done several of those. I remember one where he led the spammer down a long back and forth rabbit hole about not transferring any money to the designated bank unless he got a free toaster out of it.

Tell them that you have a MAC that usually shuts them up pretty quickly.

I have a Google Pixel phone and use Google Fi as my carrier. A great feature that is built into the phone and/or service is that it will screen any calls from unknown callers and ask them why they are calling. Most scammers will hang up immediately but the other day the caller left a message that was simply "I want your money". Now that is a rarity. A scammer who was honest about why he was calling.

I hate scammers. I sold my time share many years ago but I continue to get calls every week to help me sell my timeshare! I also get many calls and emails that are all scams. “My subscription is about to end or a computer is infected or I just won something that I did not subscribe to. Of course they’re all scams to get you to give them personal information for money. So many times if I have the time, when they call on the phone I play with them by trying to delay the call as long as possible telling them the person they want to speak to will be back in 30 seconds, can you hold on? and then in 30 seconds, I will answer in a different voice a child’s voice and then after the person on the phone has given this pitch for a full minute, I will say in a very childlike voice can you hold on? I have to get my dad, but it might take a little time because he’s in the toilet, and then I put them on hold and silence the phone mic until they hang up.

You get many scam calls because you keep answering them. Messing with them won't stop them from calling.

How did you get through that without chuckling?

That's my attitude. If it's really for me and it's important, they'll leave something on the answering machine or voicemail. If they don't, then it wasn't for me, and if it actually was for me then it wasn't that important.
