I have some prints from the early 2000's. Is the an easy, inexpensive way to get them into my computer. I have a brother DS-640 portable scanner, I think that is only for documents, but I haven't tried pictures.

Try the pictures.
The user interface may have that option.

I scan old photos with the same scanner I use for documents. Check the settings and if you can scan at 300 ppi you should be fine.
If you look at the software there probably a setting for photos.

Try the scanner but since the prints will have to run through the scanner if it's too thick there may be problem.

A quick and easy way is to take a picture of your picture with your smart phone and then "drop" it into the computer or email it to yourself. You might have to play with the lighting but can usually get a "decent" photo that way.

What does the carrier sheet do?
Hold multiple pictures?

I did a search on your scanner. In the user reviews section a number of users talked about scanning photo prints.

Just try it.

The carrier sheet is to make it eaiser to feed pictures. I will try it when the sheets arrive.

How small are the pictures?
I would anticipate that even wallet size would feed fine.

Epson makes several less expensive options, but most of them are sloooooowwww.

IF you have a camera with a macro lens, plus a couple of 5000K video lights, copying prints by photographing them is an option.

Years ago I copied with a plain 50mm on a film camera, tripod center column upside-down and room lighting.
The object was to get copies,
not museum pieces.
