Ok I as able to contact Canon and they accepted my Rebel T8i for repair! Wohho! Problem solved. But I still may upgrade to the 90D to have two cameras in case of a similar situation in the future…thanks everyone for helping me and offering advice ! I thank you all. Walt

Good news that you can get your camera repaired. I have been lucky and only done cosmetic damage to most of my recent cameras. My rain storm volunteer body may only survive a few more soakings, but a replacement is already in house.
Since I no longer shoot the latest gear (I use DSLRs), I have been very happy buying from the refurb market at a portion of the original list price. Only thing missing has been the packaging.

lol…thanks for the fireworks display! I actually feel that relieved now…. My picture taking has become a big part of my life and hunting down new lifer birds keeps me young as I approach 81 years.

I stole it. You may do likewise. But first, you must delare yourself to be a Real Artist. Real Artists never borrow. We just steal outright !

I need some service for my Canon Rebel T8i EOS 850D so I went to the Canon Service site and no T8i options listed like it never existed. So I guess that I am out of luck for anything on the latest edition of the Rebel series? I never have seen anything on the ‘net about its lifespan ending. I am very disappointed in It being dropped….I loved this camera for my needs.

Next I went to B&H and they listed it as discontinued! Bummer, was it such a bad seller that it is gone already? Probably could scare up some refurbished units here and there…but that does not appeal to me much….one note, I could not sign into my Canon Account as I am having password problems at the moment, will there be more help available on my account when I get full in?

I guess I am forced into looking at replacing my camera body, I think the next option for my budget will be the 90D and use my EF-70-300 IS II USM lens on it. Any comments or ideas from you more knowledgeable persons here?
Thanks all. Walt

We will all become discontinued, some sooner than others.

I bought my first used lens and it was/ is perfect! So I will be looking at all the future bargains too. Although I want one more new camera body so thinking I will get a new Canon 90D very soon.

LOTS of cheap 80D's out there now .....very inflated prices on the 90D now - I can buy a new R10 cheaper than a used 90D ! ??

(btw, as I write this, his website shows as being "temporarily" down.)

I’m sorry it was a bad choice of terms. Please forgive me!

As for having his website temporarily down it is back up. And it is very messy. And Yes, I did mention it to him. He will try to find a new web designer.
It is best to contact him through the UHH forum.

I was unaware of the 451 reference to the Ray Bradbury book. Wow! I’m glad my high school English teacher made us read it!

Bradbury got it wrong, the combustion point of paper/books is 450°C, not F.
But it was a very thought-provoking book.

Some of us have already passed our "use by" date.

I talked to a Canon tech and was told my Rebel T8i is repairable until 2030 and right now it is not scheduled to be discontinued! Just supply problems after the holiday season… made me feel better by a lot.
