I have never cropped a photo in this manner. It's real tight.
Usually you like to give some shoulder to sit on when you crop.
I just couldn't pass up the tight crop with the lines on Genny's face.
She had the most unusual strong lines down the sides of her mouth giving her almost a puppet like appearance. I didn't notice the straight line under the right part of her mouth until post. I'm guessing it was a scar.

This lady was crazy as hell but a blast to talk to. She had no problem signing a release.

The portrait was done in a black and white metallic post processing technique I am working on.

I had originally called this portrait the wicked, but decided to change it to better reflect what she seemed to be.

I hope this is not to offensive to post.

Great job on the crop and the PP. I would like to know more about your black and white metallic post processing technique. Is this a filter effect in Photo Shop or a action created by you? I have always tried to get B&W photo's to pop and this looks like something to play with. Is there a method you use in capture to get that extreme contrast or is done with lighting or in post? Were these captures done in a studio? I would love to see your lighting arangment.

I, too, would like to know more about the metallic PP. I am working a a lot right now in B&W and would be interested in this. I have been thinking of experimenting with printing B&W on metallic paper. Have you played with that?

one of the best b/w character studies I have ever seen, The detail, the light in her eyes, perfect composition. Further proof that Black and white is the superior format for portraits!!!

You nailed it Russ. It is right on and not to tight crop. Great shot and great model. Always enjoy your post. (also still waiting for that shoot with your daughter.) Thanks for posting.

Love the picture. I like the genre myself. Was downtown DC and met "Earl" late one night and had quite the conversation with him. I'll post a photo later when I get home. He was a character - turns out he knew Clinton, was on some 'secret' mission for Bush and many other interesting things he was doing. Got his permission to take a few photos and I just love doing that type of photography...the true human spirit no matter how misguided it may be sometimes is truly beautiful.

Beautiful face, beautiful capture, beautiful texture. Just a thought, though: if truly insane, how valid is her release?

My sentiments exactly!!!
