Love the name, Ernie. Looks like you picked the right one Granddad; I think everyone would like to have Ernie here on the Hog. Ernie, have a great life and send us more photos once in awhile.
He looks like quite a hound. :)

Beautiful dog! We have a soft spot in our hearts for black labs.
I will bore you for a moment. Years ago, I went to look at a factory for sale and the man who took me told me that his daughter’s lab had a litter of black labs that were now old enough to depart their mother. We went to see them after the factory.
When we walked in to the house, I was attacked by 8 6 week old puppies. It’s amazing I left with only one.
I got home, my wife was not there yet. I was playing with it on my neighbor’s lawn. My wife drove up and congratulated our neighbors on their new puppy, who said, “he is not ours, he is yours!”
That went over big, but not exactly. My wife is British. Unlike in the USA where many people buy pets on a whim and get rid of them when they get bored with them, in Britain, they have a motto, a pet is for life. So when I got home with a new pet, she knew it was for a lifetime. I thought I was doing a nice thing, but she looked at it as a lifetime of responsibility.
Well, we loved that dog, for 16 years. He was an amazing family member. He was there for the birth of both of our children and helped them grow up.
As he got older, he developed allergies. So bad in fact that he became allergic to himself. We took him to an allergy specialist who developed a personal antihistamine injection that my wife gave him every day for over 10 years.
He was a major part of our family and we loved him deeply and dearly. We had to let him go when he was 16 as it was the kindest thing we needed to do for him.
His name was Polo.
Sweet face! Labs are noted for being gentle and loving. Both of you are lucky!
Cool! May you and Ernie have a great relationship. We have had 3 black Labs, one chocolate and two yellows. All were special in their own ways.

He is a cutie. All labs are. My son got us a Silver Lab from a local breeder. He gives us unconditional love. My grandson can do anything to him & he won't bit him. They love each other so so much. I have found all Labrador breeds no matter their color are like that. Only down side is they don't live as long as we do. Give him a big kiss for me. I would post a photo of him for you to see but when I did that with a nasty member on this forum he bitched at me for posting a photo of Apollo on his post. If you you want, let me know I can send to a photo of Apollo in a private post.
