Looking for a flash for a canon r5, and am wondering what other are using. Thanks for any help

Canon 600EX-RT:
Indoors I ONLY Bounce using the 600EX-RT
Outdoors for fill (around -2/3) and catch lights.
Canon 430 EXII: Indoors/outdoors as a slave.
With the Canon R5 with Canon RF 28-70 F2 I rarely use a flash indoors, and when I do it is always in the bounce mode using a simple white card.
I find that indoors, a flash helps when there are two or more different types of light in a scene.
The real challenge for me is to make every shot look like there is no flash being used.

Edit: There are newer, perhaps better Canon flashes out now, but I am older and stubborn so I am not tempted.

I rarely use a flash, but when I do, I have a Canon 430 EXII on my R5.

Thanks for the anser i am a old timer and used to keeping the iso low, and have not shot it that much to know how bad the grain will be. I allso still have my 5d mark 3 and and 580ex but wanted to keep things light , like said i am old and need to walk with a cane. Thanks. Dave

I’m using a Godox V1. Excellent flash around $260. The LI battery will last through multiple events, wedding etc. I highly recommend it. There are a few cheaper models from $75-$100. If you’re an Adorama patron the Flashpoint line is actually Godox equipment. Both deliver high quality at low prices.

I was interested in the godox, good to hear they are good. I used the metzs for years i called the hamer not sure what one it was now

Metz is out of business. I think they kept their production in Germany until the end. Metz flashes are good but as far as compatibilty with dedicated flash system they are not all that compatible.

I have a love hate relationship with speedlights. Give me a studio light any day. I bought the Canon speed light EL-1 and find it extremely user friendly. If you can get past the sticker shock of $1100.00 you should check it out. It uses a dedicated rechargeable battery so no AA batteries are needed.

My flash is older than that, I've had it a long time. It is a 550EX! I use it on my R7. No adapter required.

Sold my Nikon flashes and purchased Godox and have never looked back.
