Anyone experience difficulty attaching lens hood to lens. I've experienced some registration alignment problems and periodically it gets stuck -- out of line.

The newer/cheaper Nikon lens hoods tend to be flimsy compared to the older ones. However, the older hoods from Nikon could go for as high as $500 to $1,000.

After a while you will probably get used to the newer ones. Work carefully.

I have had the same experience. Someone on here quoted the manual, grab the hood by the collar where it attaches, not the end. Doing it that way has saved me a lot of frustration.

NO, that lens hood snaps on with great accuracy. Afraid you have piolet error.

FWIW, when the hood on my FUji 200MM f2 broke it was on UHH that I learned of Zemlin:

https://www.zemlinphoto.com/

I purchased the one for my lens and will tell you it is quite sturdy with a very positive locking bayonet mount and it can be reversed for storage on the lens. Might be worth checking out.

Thanks for the feedback. Don't think it's pilot error as mentioned. I have had a couple folks I know with same lens have some trouble as well. If you orient the collar with the release tab centered on top, it seems to snap on better. Also, if you decide to replace Zemlin makes a high quality hood -- of varying lengths for the Nikon 600mm F/6.3.
